Permanent outdoor cellular connectivity installations face challenges that indoor units do not: weather, temperature extremes, rodents, UV degradation, and the practical difficulty of routing multiple cables through weatherproofed penetrations. The Milesight UF51 addresses all of these with a single-cable PoE installation that simplifies outdoor deployment significantly.
Single Cable Installation
A conventional outdoor cellular installation requires: the router in a weatherproof housing, external antenna cables routed through weatherproof glands (coax runs introduce signal loss of 2-5dB per 10 metres), separate power supply, and potentially a separate PoE injector for any powered cameras. The UF51 replaces this with a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable carrying both power (PoE 802.3at, up to 30W) and gigabit data. All antennas are internal – 8 antennas for 5G, 4G and GPS. The result is a significantly simpler installation with fewer failure points.
