Transport and Traffic Connectivity

Transport infrastructure connectivity requirements differ from fixed industrial monitoring: the hardware may be mobile, power from vehicle supply rather than mains, GPS tracking alongside data connectivity, and the need to withstand vibration and wider temperature variation. Milesight’s UR series is specified for transport and ITS applications across these requirements.

ANPR and Traffic Camera Backhaul

ANPR cameras at roadsides need reliable cellular backhaul to transmit plate reads to back-office systems. The Milesight UF51 outdoor CPE installed on the camera pole provides 5G backhaul via a single PoE cable. Where the camera requires a powered data connection from a roadside cabinet, the UR75 in the cabinet provides cellular WAN with Gigabit Ethernet to the camera.

Vehicle Telematics

The UR75’s wide input voltage range (9-48V DC) allows direct connection to vehicle power systems. GNSS is built in for location tracking. Data from onboard CAN bus (vehicle diagnostic data) is accessible via the CAN interface. The router can simultaneously provide Wi-Fi connectivity inside the vehicle and backhaul data over cellular WAN to the fleet management platform.

Roadside ITS

Variable message signs, traffic signal controllers, weather stations and other roadside equipment require reliable cellular connectivity for remote monitoring and configuration. The UR75 and UR35 are specified on National Highways and local authority framework contracts for roadside ITS applications.
